« Thanks to a strong mobilization of firefighters, the disaster on the site was contained “, Announced the prefecture in a press release, shortly before 7:00 am. Operational resources have also been mobilized by the German authorities.

The prefecture specified that the site, of the data-center type, was not, contrary to what it had initially announced. She said no toxic pollution had been detected, despite the large plume of smoke. The industrial zone of Port du Rhin has several Seveso sites.

« Everyone is safe and sound. The fire destroyed SBG2. Part of SBG1 is destroyed. Firefighters are currently protecting SBG3. No impact on SBG4 “Tweeted Octave Klaba, the founder of OVHcloud, in the early hours of the morning, pointing to the different parts of the site.

The company has decommissioned all of the servers at its Strasbourg site, and is planning a gradual restart of the two data centers which were not affected by the flames. Many websites hosted by OVH have therefore gone offline. “ We recommend that you activate your disaster recovery plan », Tweeted Octave Klaba to his clients.
